Overview
“Kim has explored the conditions of contemporary life encompassed by digital media and representational devices, creating original video work that combine powerful images and unfamiliar narratives based on autobiographical experiences . . . His new work, Studies (2024), is a fiction film with cinematic experimentation borrowing from the horror film genre. Heecheon Kim has invented a fantasy of horror that opens up a new dimension of creation in which the fragility of borders allows a possibility of narratives.”

MOHV’s revolutionary new remix of the classic HALLOWEEN slasher franchise, told solely through the eyes of Pleasance’s unstable (and possibly wasted) psychiatric savior. Enclosed by a civilised landscape, society reduces the problem of human survival to a minimum. The sidewalk, the fence, the clearing, demarcate a treaty between man and nature whereby neither one of us shall pass these thresholds lest we become subject to the law of the other.

"Plasforms" is above all a visual composition, the relevance of the camera's absence, continuing in its time the plastic tradition of seeing. It is the exposure of the digital medium itself, a choreography of ghost images mechanically imitating the artificiality of a process.
Plasforms

A crowd moving in one direction.People who flow in a moment. A scene where the difference with other people disappears and looks uniform. There are many different kinds of life there. You can feel invisible energy when you see a large mass of individuals. I set myself in the streets of Taiwan, and I multilayered a lot of time to create a new timeline that reflects individuals.

American cartoons are the starting point for Martin Arnold's new work. Sequences of short films form the basis of a process of fragmentation, deconstruction, dismantling and repetition. Arnold uses fun, family entertainment to create films with open-ended possibilities for association. His pieces, such as Hydra (2013), Charon (2013), Nix (2013) and Self Control (2011), feature characters whose anatomy is no longer recognizable as such, but rather resemble puppets, remotely controlled from the outside. Trembling hands, dancing tongues, blinking eyes and snoring mouths move like ghosts against an abyss-like deep black background, in which bodily elements constantly disappear, only to reappear once more.
